Le parole per dirlo. I media e la comunicazione sull'orientamento sessuale
15 hours today at the Hall of Columns of the House of Representatives
Paola Tanning
Thursday, October 30 at 15:00 at the Chamber Hall of Columns of Representatives we are many - journalists, advertisers, members, directors, academics, MPs - for a marathon of speeches on how the media report today sexual orientation. I really wanted this meeting, along with many, many, after the controversy over the way it was reported the death of Domenico Riso. Domenico was a steward and was on his way to the Canaries for a holiday.
was August and the plane was traveling on crashed killing 153 people. Rice was there with her partner and baby him, that is with his family, but in 2008 the existence of the family, with the exception of one newspaper was censored, omitted, poorly known, in the name of an alleged public decency that has brought honor to the memory of Dominic, his life. So I think we need to confront the reticence, the hypocrisies, the simplifications but also the difficulties and the caution of one who has the responsibility to communicate the life, stories, desires and aspirations of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. Thursday we'll try to do it and I think it's the first time that happens, at least in Italy. The quotation is the title of a book by Marie Cardinal. Not by chance. "Speaking with the Angel" was a revolutionary book because it told the unease of a generation of women who wish to know and communicate to others their truth to find its place in the world. And the sense of our conference, in fact, not only lead us towards homosexual journalists, experts and media professionals, but we make a step towards them, creating, and that's our goal, and a comparison dialogue will benefit all.

Today we can see in a TV drama in which two women declared their love, a broadcast sull'omogenitorialità well made in the late evening, a movie like Brokeback Mountain, the story of two gay cowboys, which won the Venice Film Festival, beautiful pictures of the wedding of Ellen De Generis and Portia De Rossi, female entertainers, American, rich, powerful and famous that tour the world. In Italy, there are TV channels, news agencies, portals dedicated to gay issues, lesbians, transsexuals. However, it is clear, yet not enough. The reality is the subject Information and inspiration from the fiction, but they are at the same time, deeply affected. That is why it is extremely important to flush out and combat prejudice, stereotypes, lies, bad faith or merely superficial communication of sexual orientation. Used to combat discrimination, and establish a new culture of civil rights, and this is the absolute prerequisite for throwing the foundations of a modern and inclusive society capable of producing wealth, not only economic but also social.

Games Like Rescue Game
Piero Calamandrei , 1950
"Let's say, so abstract, that there is a ruling party, a ruling party, which, however, formally wants to respect the constitution, not want to violate the substance. Does not want to march on Rome and transform the classroom into a space for presentation; but wants to establish, without opinion, a disguised dictatorship. So, what to do to gain control of schools and to transform schools into state schools of the party? He realizes that the schools have been the defect of being impartial. There is some resistance, in those schools is always there, even under fascism has been there. Then, the dominant party follows another path (it's all a theoretical hypothesis, mind you). He begins to neglect the public schools, to discredit, to impoverish. A "quelle" scuole private.
